44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Donald
66 Eugene Allen of Weatherford, who passed away on January 13, 2009;
77 and
88 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Don Allen shared more
99 than half a century with his spouse, Nickie; together, they raised
1010 three daughters, Erin, Linda, and Jane, and later in life delighted
1111 in the company of their grandchildren; and
1212 WHEREAS, Mr. Allen worked as a claims examiner in the
1313 insurance industry for 13 years before purchasing a paint and
1414 decorating business with his wife; his hard work and
1515 entrepreneurial savvy also led him to establish a home construction
1616 company that he operated for many decades; one of his most notable
1717 works, Windsor House, was built for and managed by Mrs. Allen; and
1818 WHEREAS, An avid sports fan, Mr. Allen spent his free time
1919 cheering on his favorite teams, and he especially enjoyed baseball;
2020 and
2121 WHEREAS, Although Don Allen will be greatly missed, he led a
2222 caring and purposeful life, and he will always be remembered with
2323 great affection by those fortunate enough to have known him; now,
2424 therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Donald Eugene Allen
2727 and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
2828 wife, Nickie Allen; to his daughters, Erin Ratliff and her husband,
2929 Tim, Linda Clark and her husband, Bart, and Jane Allen; to his
3030 grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle, and Lindsey; and to his other
3131 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
3232 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3333 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3434 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Don Allen.
