| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Donald |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Eugene Allen of Weatherford, who passed away on January 13, 2009; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Don Allen shared more |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | than half a century with his spouse, Nickie; together, they raised |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | three daughters, Erin, Linda, and Jane, and later in life delighted |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in the company of their grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Allen worked as a claims examiner in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | insurance industry for 13 years before purchasing a paint and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | decorating business with his wife; his hard work and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | entrepreneurial savvy also led him to establish a home construction |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | company that he operated for many decades; one of his most notable |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | works, Windsor House, was built for and managed by Mrs. Allen; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, An avid sports fan, Mr. Allen spent his free time |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | cheering on his favorite teams, and he especially enjoyed baseball; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Although Don Allen will be greatly missed, he led a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | caring and purposeful life, and he will always be remembered with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | great affection by those fortunate enough to have known him; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Donald Eugene Allen |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | wife, Nickie Allen; to his daughters, Erin Ratliff and her husband, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Tim, Linda Clark and her husband, Bart, and Jane Allen; to his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle, and Lindsey; and to his other |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | relatives and many friends; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
