H.R. No. 2170
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Marc Helkey of John Paul Stevens High School in San
Antonio has been named the 2009 Boys Soccer Coach of the Year by the
San Antonio Express-News; and
WHEREAS, Coach Helkey has guided the Stevens Falcons for
three years, having first taken the helm for the team's first year
of varsity competition in 2006-2007; that season, Stevens had a
successful debut and came very close to qualifying for the
playoffs; and
WHEREAS, After struggling in their second year, the Falcons
enjoyed a resurgence during the 2008-2009 season; drawing on Coach
Helkey's expertise, the team captured the District 28-5A
championship and went on to claim a victory in the postseason; and
WHEREAS, Exceptional coaches inspire athletes to perform at
the peak of their abilities, and Marc Helkey's commitment to
excellence indeed makes him a most deserving recipient of this
award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Marc Helkey on being named 2009
Boys Soccer Coach of the Year by the San Antonio Express-News and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Coach Helkey as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
