| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Marc Helkey of John Paul Stevens High School in San |

| 6 | 6 | | Antonio has been named the 2009 Boys Soccer Coach of the Year by the |

| 7 | 7 | | San Antonio Express-News; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Coach Helkey has guided the Stevens Falcons for |

| 9 | 9 | | three years, having first taken the helm for the team's first year |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of varsity competition in 2006-2007; that season, Stevens had a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | successful debut and came very close to qualifying for the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | playoffs; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, After struggling in their second year, the Falcons |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | enjoyed a resurgence during the 2008-2009 season; drawing on Coach |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Helkey's expertise, the team captured the District 28-5A |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | championship and went on to claim a victory in the postseason; and |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Exceptional coaches inspire athletes to perform at |

| 18 | 18 | | the peak of their abilities, and Marc Helkey's commitment to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | excellence indeed makes him a most deserving recipient of this |

| 20 | 20 | | award; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
