| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | a close when Richard A. Bode of Plano passed away on May 1, 2009, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 77; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Dick Bode attended Loris College in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | from DePaul University; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, After retiring from professional life, Mr. Bode |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | dedicated himself to public service in the city of Plano, where he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | was a member of the Plano City Council from 1990 to 2000 and mayor |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | pro tem from 1996 to 2000; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This caring gentleman was also a member of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Leadership Committee of John Paul II High School in Plano, and he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | devoted much time and energy to the Hope's Door women's shelter and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Collin County Adult Clinic; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man, he enjoyed 46 years of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | marriage to the love of his life, Marge Bode, and together they |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | shared in raising five children and in welcoming seven |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | grandchildren into their family; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The loss of this esteemed Texan is keenly felt by the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | numerous friends that he made through the years as well as by the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | many people in Plano and beyond who will forever find inspiration in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | his generosity, integrity, and kindness; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard A. Bode and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | wife, Marge Bode; to his daughters, Anne Kuldanek and her husband, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Ken, Julie Anderson and her husband, Ty, Ellen Hayes and her |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | husband, Brian, and Molly Brown and her husband, Ryan; to his son, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | John Bode, and his wife, Nichole; to his grandchildren, Meg, Kevin, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and Scotty Anderson, Gabbie Bode, and Abbey, Eilee, and Molly |

| 35 | 35 | | Hayes; to his sister, Anita Quinn; and to his other relatives and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | friends; and, be it further |
