44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
66 a close when Richard A. Bode of Plano passed away on May 1, 2009, at
77 the age of 77; and
88 WHEREAS, A graduate of Marmion Academy in Aurora, Illinois,
99 Dick Bode attended Loris College in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated
1010 from DePaul University; and
1111 WHEREAS, After retiring from professional life, Mr. Bode
1212 dedicated himself to public service in the city of Plano, where he
1313 was a member of the Plano City Council from 1990 to 2000 and mayor
1414 pro tem from 1996 to 2000; and
1515 WHEREAS, This caring gentleman was also a member of the
1616 Leadership Committee of John Paul II High School in Plano, and he
1717 devoted much time and energy to the Hope's Door women's shelter and
1818 the Collin County Adult Clinic; and
1919 WHEREAS, A devoted family man, he enjoyed 46 years of
2020 marriage to the love of his life, Marge Bode, and together they
2121 shared in raising five children and in welcoming seven
2222 grandchildren into their family; and
2323 WHEREAS, The loss of this esteemed Texan is keenly felt by the
2424 numerous friends that he made through the years as well as by the
2525 many people in Plano and beyond who will forever find inspiration in
2626 his generosity, integrity, and kindness; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2828 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard A. Bode and
2929 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3030 wife, Marge Bode; to his daughters, Anne Kuldanek and her husband,
3131 Ken, Julie Anderson and her husband, Ty, Ellen Hayes and her
3232 husband, Brian, and Molly Brown and her husband, Ryan; to his son,
3333 John Bode, and his wife, Nichole; to his grandchildren, Meg, Kevin,
3434 and Scotty Anderson, Gabbie Bode, and Abbey, Eilee, and Molly
3535 Hayes; to his sister, Anita Quinn; and to his other relatives and
3636 friends; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3939 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dick Bode.
