| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant Dustin S. Wakeman of Fort Worth, |

| 7 | 7 | | who died on August 4, 2007, at the age of 25; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based out of Fort |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Richardson, Alaska, Sergeant Wakeman was killed while bravely |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | serving his country in Iraq; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dustin Wakeman was a 2000 graduate of Everman High |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | School, where he was active in the band and in the drama, math, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | science clubs; he attended Tarrant County College and The |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | University of Texas at Arlington; trained as a medic, he was |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | considering a career in medical services; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | servicemen and servicewomen, whose love for their country inspires |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | them to take up military service, and their dedicated efforts and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | respect and gratitude; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | forces, Dustin Wakeman inspired others with his commitment, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | leadership, and courage; although his death has left a void in the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Dustin S. |

| 29 | 29 | | Wakeman and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: |

| 30 | 30 | | to his parents, David and Margaret Wakeman; to his brother, Zach |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Wakeman; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
