44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant Dustin S. Wakeman of Fort Worth,
77 who died on August 4, 2007, at the age of 25; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment,
99 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based out of Fort
1010 Richardson, Alaska, Sergeant Wakeman was killed while bravely
1111 serving his country in Iraq; and
1212 WHEREAS, Dustin Wakeman was a 2000 graduate of Everman High
1313 School, where he was active in the band and in the drama, math, and
1414 science clubs; he attended Tarrant County College and The
1515 University of Texas at Arlington; trained as a medic, he was
1616 considering a career in medical services; and
1717 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
1818 servicemen and servicewomen, whose love for their country inspires
1919 them to take up military service, and their dedicated efforts and
2020 enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest
2121 respect and gratitude; and
2222 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
2323 forces, Dustin Wakeman inspired others with his commitment,
2424 leadership, and courage; although his death has left a void in the
2525 lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this
2626 heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2828 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Dustin S.
2929 Wakeman and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family:
3030 to his parents, David and Margaret Wakeman; to his brother, Zach
3131 Wakeman; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
3232 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3333 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3434 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant
3535 Dustin S. Wakeman.
