| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A. Pearl Hunt, a longtime member of the Eta Chapter |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., is being honored by the organization |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at its annual Founders Day celebration on June 13, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Guided by the motto "Not For Ourselves But For |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Others," Eta Phi Beta is a venue for African American businesswomen |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | that seeks to promote high scholastic standards, personal growth, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | career awareness, and community involvement; Mrs. Hunt joined the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sorority's Eta Chapter in 1966, just six years after the group was |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | established in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and through the years, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | she has remained a dedicated member; in addition to holding such |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | leadership positions as president, historian, and treasurer, she |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | has served on various committees at the regional and national |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | levels; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A retired teacher, Mrs. Hunt has further |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | distinguished herself through her participation in numerous civic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | groups, including the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Minority Leaders and Citizens' Council, the Fort Worth Metropolitan |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Sickle Cell Disease Association |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of America, and she has been active in Greater First Missionary |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Baptist Church; moreover, she received the 2009 Living Legend Award |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | for Community Service from La Vida News; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Pearl Hunt has been |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | committed to the Eta Phi Beta ideals of sisterhood, leadership, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | community service, and she may indeed reflect with great pride on |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the lasting contributions she has made to this notable |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | organization; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor A. Pearl Hunt of the Eta Chapter of Eta Phi |

| 33 | 33 | | Beta Sorority, Inc., and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|---|
