| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of Rocky Point Congregational Methodist |

| 6 | 6 | | Church in Cass County marked a momentous event in the history of |

| 7 | 7 | | their church with the celebration of its 100th anniversary on April |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 26, 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Organized in April 1909 with 18 charter members led |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | by the Reverend C. S. Black, the church is located 1-1/2 miles east |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of Naples on what is now Highway 77, just south of Marietta; the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | first officers to serve were B. B. Bunting, deacon; C. N. Wright and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Alba McDowell, stewards; and J. M. McDowell, secretary; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The congregation initially met in a schoolhouse that |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | later became the church building; remodeled in 1929, it was |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | replaced in 1963 with the current hilltop brick structure, which |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | features stained glass windows, a parsonage, and a fellowship hall; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The church is now under the leadership of Jeff |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Lohrstofer, and it is benefiting greatly from his service and the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | support of his wife, Vicki Lohrstofer; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Sustained by a common purpose, warm fellowship, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | inspired teaching, the congregants of Rocky Point Congregational |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Methodist Church have remained steadfast in their dedication to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | their faith, and in their service to the world around them, and the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | church's continued existence is a tribute to the unwavering |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commitment of its members, both past and present; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Rocky |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Point Congregational Methodist Church and extend to its pastor and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
