| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of United States Marine Lance |

| 6 | 6 | | Corporal Javier Perales, Jr., suffered an immeasurable loss when he |

| 7 | 7 | | died in Iraq on June 11, 2008, at the age of 19; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Lejeune, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | North Carolina, Lance Corporal Perales died while serving his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | country in Al Anbar Province, Iraq; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Javier Perales was born on February 17, 1989, to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Javier and Carolina Perales; he attended Alarcon Elementary School |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and San Elizario Middle School, and he graduated from San Elizario |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | High School, where he earned academic recognitions; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A devoted son and brother, he was a young man of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | strong religious faith and an active member of San Elizario |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Catholic Church, where he served as a teacher's aide in the Sunday |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | school; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young men |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and women whose love of country leads them to service in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | military, and time can never diminish the profound debt that |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Americans owe to Lance Corporal Perales; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lance Corporal Javier |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Perales, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family: to his parents, Javier Perales, Sr., and Carolina Perales; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to his brothers, Fernando Perales and Ricardo Perales; and to his |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
