5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Delegates from the American Council of Young |

6 | 6 | | Political Leaders are visiting the State Capitol on February 2, |

7 | 7 | | 2009, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor the |

8 | 8 | | council for its efforts to promote cultural understanding among the |
---|
9 | 9 | | world's future policy makers; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A nonprofit, educational exchange organization, |
---|
11 | 11 | | ACYPL cultivates lasting political, economic, and cultural |
---|
12 | 12 | | relationships between young leaders through educational forums, |
---|
13 | 13 | | foreign policy and democracy conferences, election study programs, |
---|
14 | 14 | | and leadership training; this bipartisan group introduces rising |
---|
15 | 15 | | politicians to international affairs and issues, while encouraging |
---|
16 | 16 | | mutual respect and friendship; since 1966, ACYPL has conducted |
---|
17 | 17 | | exchanges in 20-25 countries around the world, and it has alumni in |
---|
18 | 18 | | more than 90 nations; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Council delegates are selected based on their |
---|
20 | 20 | | current leadership roles and potential for future achievement; |
---|
21 | 21 | | during the program, they tour several cities that highlight the |
---|
22 | 22 | | cultural, geographic, economic, and political diversity of the host |
---|
23 | 23 | | country, and they gain unique access to its decision-making |
---|
24 | 24 | | processes and electoral dynamics; they also meet numerous |
---|
25 | 25 | | government officials and corporate and community leaders; this |
---|
26 | 26 | | interaction provides a platform for exploring common concerns and |
---|
27 | 27 | | points of difference, debating ideas, and sharing experiences, and |
---|
28 | 28 | | the participants emerge with enhanced leadership and public |
---|
29 | 29 | | diplomacy skills; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The diverse group of delegates who are visiting |

31 | 31 | | Texas represent various municipal, regional, and national |
---|
32 | 32 | | government entities and multiple political parties, while others |
---|
33 | 33 | | are involved in such fields as economic development, journalism, |
---|
34 | 34 | | and campaign management; the delegation from Argentina includes |

35 | 35 | | Fernando De Andreis, Mario Joaquin Losada, Carolina Marsella, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Matias Alejandro Mendez, Alejandro Ramos, and Javier Van Houtte, |

37 | 37 | | and the delegation from Uruguay includes Sebastian Cervino Delgado, |

38 | 38 | | Matias Rodriguez, Marcelo Debernardi Caponi, Diego Pazos Rosado, |

39 | 39 | | Juan Martin Jorge, and Maria Alejandra Romeo Rondan; and |

40 | 40 | | WHEREAS, The ACYPL is dedicated to fostering relationships |

41 | 41 | | among promising young individuals throughout the world, and it is |

42 | 42 | | indeed a pleasure to welcome members of the next generation of |
