55 WHEREAS, Shaine Mata of Mission contributed to the success of
66 the Rio Grande Valley VA Hospital March to San Antonio on March
77 14-20, 2009, through his diverse media coverage of the event; and
88 WHEREAS, The 250-mile march, which began in Edinburg and
99 culminated at the VA hospital in San Antonio, included members of
1010 Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, as well as veterans of
1111 Vietnam and other wars; and
1212 WHEREAS, A computer technician and Internet marketing
1313 consultant by trade, Mr. Mata is also an avid blogger and podcaster
1414 and the founder of Advantj Media and Social Media Club of the Rio
1515 Grande Valley; he photographed and filmed the march and helped
1616 bring it to the attention of others through his blog and his Twitter
1717 account; and
1818 WHEREAS, Mr. Mata is supported in his endeavors by his wife,
1919 Alma Mata, and their three children, Tien Leigh, Magnus Alaric, and
2020 Io Evangeline; and
2121 WHEREAS, Dedicated to documenting a variety of public events,
2222 Shaine Mata gave generously of his time to participate in and record
2323 the Rio Grande Valley VA Hospital March to San Antonio, and in so
2424 doing, he raised awareness among many people of this significant
2525 event; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2727 Legislature honor Shaine Mata for his participation in and media
2828 coverage of the Rio Grande Valley VA Hospital March to San Antonio
2929 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
3030 it further
3131 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3232 prepared for Mr. Mata as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3333 House of Representatives.
