H.R. No. 2241 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Mallory Gibson is celebrating a significant milestone in her life in 2009, when she graduates from The University of Texas School of Law; and WHEREAS, Ms. Gibson graduated from Louisiana State University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a minor in African American studies; at LSU, she was a member of the Sociology Society and the University Planning Committee, and she was a recipient of the Dean's Award for Outstanding Scholarship in 2004; and WHEREAS, At UT law school, Ms. Gibson has distinguished herself as a member of The University of Texas Black Graduate Student Association and the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students Association, and she has served as alumni relations chair of the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society, which is the UT chapter of the National Black Law Students Association; and WHEREAS, She has further pursued her interest in the law by serving successfully as a summer associate at Walker Bright PC in Austin and as an intern for the Honorable Lawrence E. Meyers of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals; and WHEREAS, In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Ms. Gibson has generously given back to the community through her work with The Links, Incorporated, mentoring children at Campbell Elementary School in reading and life skills; and WHEREAS, Mallory Gibson is an outstanding student and an exceptional leader, and it is a pleasure to recognize her as she embarks on an exciting new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mallory Gibson on her graduation from The University of Texas School of Law and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Gibson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
