| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mallory Gibson is celebrating a significant |

| 6 | 6 | | milestone in her life in 2009, when she graduates from The |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | University of Texas School of Law; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gibson graduated from Louisiana State |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a minor |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in African American studies; at LSU, she was a member of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sociology Society and the University Planning Committee, and she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | was a recipient of the Dean's Award for Outstanding Scholarship in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 2004; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, At UT law school, Ms. Gibson has distinguished |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | herself as a member of The University of Texas Black Graduate |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Student Association and the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Association, and she has served as alumni relations chair of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Thurgood Marshall Legal Society, which is the UT chapter of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | National Black Law Students Association; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She has further pursued her interest in the law by |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | serving successfully as a summer associate at Walker Bright PC in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Austin and as an intern for the Honorable Lawrence E. Meyers of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texas Court of Criminal Appeals; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her academic and professional |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | pursuits, Ms. Gibson has generously given back to the community |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | through her work with The Links, Incorporated, mentoring children |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | at Campbell Elementary School in reading and life skills; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Mallory Gibson is an outstanding student and an |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | exceptional leader, and it is a pleasure to recognize her as she |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | embarks on an exciting new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
