| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The cities of Taylor and Hutto have joined together |

| 6 | 6 | | to support the U.S. Army 1st Battalion 4th Aviation Regiment in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | conjunction with the Adopt-A-Unit Program sponsored by the Central |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United States |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Army; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The "Dragon" Battalion is part of the Combat |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Aviation Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Hood; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | deployed to Iraq since June 2008, the unit's nearly 400 skilled and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | dedicated soldiers support ground forces with 24 advanced Longbow |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Apache helicopters; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Taylor and Hutto chambers of commerce, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | ministerial alliances, school districts, and city councils have |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | joined together to participate in this exemplary effort to support |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the members of the battalion and their families; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Volunteers have collected personal items for the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | soldiers, provided care packages, staged deployment and welcome |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | home events, and written letters and cards in support of the troops; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | participants also offer the families of battalion members |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | assistance and encouragement with phone calls and social |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | gatherings; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In order to ensure our safety and our freedom, the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | men and women of America's armed forces and their loved ones endure |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | hardship and sacrifice, and it is most fitting that the people of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Hutto and Taylor have found this meaningful way to demonstrate |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | their admiration and appreciation; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commend the cities of Hutto and Taylor and the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | participating individuals and organizations for their adoption of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the 1st Battalion 4th Aviation Regiment and extend to all those |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | involved in this worthwhile enterprise sincere best wishes for |
