| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, founded in |

| 6 | 6 | | 1954 as the Tri-County Teachers Credit Union, is a nonprofit |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | cooperative dedicated to providing local educators and their |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | families with a range of financial products and services; 3 of its |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 10 branches operate within the Katy Independent School District; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, During the 2007-2008 school year and the fall 2008 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | term, the BVSCU generously donated more than $32,000 to Katy |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | schools for a variety of programs and activities; its contributions |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | include support of the "Doo-Wop to Disco" fundraising event, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | donation of school supplies, computer equipment, artwork, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | teacher gift cards, and hiring a mariachi band for the dedication of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Stephens Elementary School; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The employees of BVSCU have also given selflessly of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | their time and energy to Katy schools; president and CEO Joe Simmons |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | has served on the Campus Advisory Team at Wolfe Elementary, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | other BVSCU personnel have mentored students and participated in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Junior Achievement and Promise to Read programs; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Community-minded local businesses play a vital role |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | in helping public education in the Lone Star State, and Brazos |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Valley Schools Credit Union is a valued friend and supporter of the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | teachers, staff, and students of Katy ISD; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union for |

| 29 | 29 | | its many contributions to Katy ISD and extend to the BVSCU's |

| 30 | 30 | | management and staff sincere best wishes for their continued good |
