| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, May 30, 2009, marks the 50th wedding anniversary of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Charles and Barbara Horak of El Paso, and this joyous event provides |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | together as husband and wife; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Charles Joseph Horak, Jr., and the former Barbara |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Creamer were high school sweethearts at Austin High in El Paso |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | before they were joined in marriage in 1959; through the years, they |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | have been blessed with three children, Charles, David, and Sharon, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and they have shared in the joy of welcoming into their family nine |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. and Mrs. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Horak both hold degrees from The University of Texas at El Paso; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | together, they founded a successful construction company, C. J. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Horak Construction, Inc., in 1976; since their retirement in 1990, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | they have continued to lead active lives, raising cattle on their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ranch outside El Paso and serving their community; Mrs. Horak has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | volunteered with Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso and currently |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | dedicates much of her time to counseling at the Crisis Pregnancy |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Center and working with the Woman's Department of the El Paso |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Horak has served as a church deacon and as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a member and director of Hermanos de la Frontera, a border mission |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | organization, and he has spent many years leading mission trips to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Mexico; Mr. and Mrs. Horak are both valued members of the First |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Baptist Church of El Paso; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The half-century of marriage that this devoted |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | couple have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | who know them; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Barbara Horak on their |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
