8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Corporal Medlicott was serving his second tour of |

9 | 9 | | duty in Iraq when he was killed while conducting operations in |

10 | 10 | | Saqlawiyah, Anbar Province; he was assigned to the 1st Platoon, |

11 | 11 | | Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine |
---|
12 | 12 | | Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, which is based at Camp |
---|
13 | 13 | | Pendleton in California; and |

14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 2005 at Spring Woods High |

15 | 15 | | School in Houston, he answered his nation's call to duty shortly |

16 | 16 | | after receiving his diploma and graduated from the Marine Corps |

17 | 17 | | Recruit Depot in San Diego in September 2005; and |

21 | 21 | | Service Deployment Ribbon with one bronze star, and he was |

22 | 22 | | posthumously awarded the Purple Heart; and |

23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. Marine |

24 | 24 | | Corps, Matthew Medlicott inspired others with his commitment and |

25 | 25 | | courage; although his death has left a void in the lives of his |
