 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Corporal Rhett
 Allen Butler of Fort Worth suffered an immeasurable loss with the
 death of this valiant soldier on July 20, 2007, at the age of 22; and
 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment,
 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team),
 out of Fort Lewis, Washington, Corporal Butler was mortally wounded
 when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in Khan Bani Sa'd,
 Iraq; and
 WHEREAS, Named for the character from Gone With the Wind,
 Rhett Butler was a gregarious young man who graduated from high
 school in Glen Rose in 2003 and joined the army in 2004; his
 determination to serve his nation was so strong that he worked hard
 to meet the army's qualifications after he was turned down on his
 first attempt to enlist; he was known for his devotion to his
 friends and his fellow soldiers and for his love of science fiction
 books and movies; and
 WHEREAS, Corporal Butler's patriotism and courage exemplify
 the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and although his
 passing has left a void in the lives of those who were fortunate
 enough to know him, they will forever carry their memories of this
 heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Corporal
 Rhett Allen Butler and extend sincere condolences to the members of
 his family: to his mother, Sereta Ramsey, and her husband, James; to
 his father, Dr. David Butler, and his wife, Janice; to his sisters,
 Shayre Strickland and her husband, Fred, Jr., and Shawna Conway; to
 his stepbrother, Jarrett Ganer; to his stepsister, Melissa Ganer;
 to his grandparents, John and Kay Butler and Ernest and Jackie
 Drake; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rhett Allen
 Butler.
