81R33950 JNC-D By: Jones H.R. No. 2302 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Geoffrey G. Johnson of Lubbock, who died while serving his country in Iraq on October 12, 2008, at the age of 28; and WHEREAS, A terrain data specialist working in geospatial intelligence, Specialist Johnson was dedicated to his mission and often volunteered to assist with special patrols; his courageous service earned him a number of honors, including the Bronze Star Medal; and WHEREAS, Geoffrey Johnson was born in Provo, Utah, and moved to Lubbock in 1985; he graduated from the South Plains College vocational nursing program before joining the military; devoted to the army, his country, and his family, he adored his children and enjoyed playing games with them and reading to them; and WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, Specialist Johnson inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist Geoffrey G. Johnson and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Amy; to his children, Kelsi, Parker, Joel, and Brayden; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army Specialist Geoffrey G. Johnson.
