44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Geoffrey G. Johnson of Lubbock,
77 who died while serving his country in Iraq on October 12, 2008, at
88 the age of 28; and
99 WHEREAS, A terrain data specialist working in geospatial
1010 intelligence, Specialist Johnson was dedicated to his mission and
1111 often volunteered to assist with special patrols; his courageous
1212 service earned him a number of honors, including the Bronze Star
1313 Medal; and
1414 WHEREAS, Geoffrey Johnson was born in Provo, Utah, and moved
1515 to Lubbock in 1985; he graduated from the South Plains College
1616 vocational nursing program before joining the military; devoted to
1717 the army, his country, and his family, he adored his children and
1818 enjoyed playing games with them and reading to them; and
1919 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
2020 forces, Specialist Johnson inspired others with his fortitude,
2121 tenacity, and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives
2222 of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic
2323 Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist
2626 Geoffrey G. Johnson and extend deepest sympathy to the members of
2727 his family: to his wife, Amy; to his children, Kelsi, Parker, Joel,
2828 and Brayden; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it
2929 further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3232 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
3333 Specialist Geoffrey G. Johnson.
