| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Geoffrey G. Johnson of Lubbock, |

| 7 | 7 | | who died while serving his country in Iraq on October 12, 2008, at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the age of 28; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A terrain data specialist working in geospatial |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | intelligence, Specialist Johnson was dedicated to his mission and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | often volunteered to assist with special patrols; his courageous |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | service earned him a number of honors, including the Bronze Star |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Medal; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Geoffrey Johnson was born in Provo, Utah, and moved |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to Lubbock in 1985; he graduated from the South Plains College |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | vocational nursing program before joining the military; devoted to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the army, his country, and his family, he adored his children and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | enjoyed playing games with them and reading to them; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | forces, Specialist Johnson inspired others with his fortitude, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | tenacity, and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Geoffrey G. Johnson and extend deepest sympathy to the members of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | his family: to his wife, Amy; to his children, Kelsi, Parker, Joel, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and Brayden; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it |
