44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
66 the loss of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Juan F. Campos of McAllen, who
77 died on June 1, 2007, at the age of 27; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry
99 Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Sergeant
1010 Campos was based at Schweinfurt, Germany; he died at Brooke Army
1111 Medical Center in San Antonio from wounds he had sustained during an
1212 attack on his unit on May 14, 2007, in Baghdad; he had been bravely
1313 serving his second tour of duty in Iraq, and he was posthumously
1414 awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart; and
1515 WHEREAS, Born in Houston on November 28, 1979, to Santos and
1616 Maria Campos, Juan Campos went on to graduate from high school in
1717 McAllen, and in 2000, he met his future wife, Jamie Drury-Campos; a
1818 loving husband and father, Sergeant Campos brought joy and laughter
1919 into the lives of his family and friends; and
2020 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the United States
2121 armed forces, Sergeant Campos inspired others with his leadership
2222 and courage; although he is deeply missed, he will forever be
2323 treasured in the hearts of his loved ones; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Staff
2626 Sergeant Juan F. Campos and extend sincere sympathy to all those who
2727 mourn his passing; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3030 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
3131 Staff Sergeant Juan F. Campos.
