44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Thomas F. Duncan III of Rowlett,
77 who died on June 9, 2008, at the age of 21; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment,
99 based out of Fort Lewis, Washington, Specialist Duncan was killed
1010 while bravely serving his country in Iraq as a machine gunner and
1111 grenadier; and
1212 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
1313 servicemen and servicewomen, whose love for their country inspires
1414 them to take up military service, and their dedicated efforts and
1515 enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest
1616 respect and gratitude; and
1717 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
1818 forces, Thomas Duncan inspired others with his commitment,
1919 leadership, and courage; although his death has left a void in the
2020 lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this
2121 heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Specialist Thomas F.
2424 Duncan III and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his wife,
2525 Megan Duncan; to his mother, Amanda Duncan; to his father, Thomas
2626 Duncan II; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
2727 further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3030 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Specialist
3131 Thomas F. Duncan III.
