55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of First Sergeant Jeffrey R. McKinney of Garland, who
77 died in Iraq on July 11, 2007, at the age of 40; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry
99 Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Sergeant
1010 McKinney was a 19-year veteran of the U.S. Army; he was a loving
1111 husband and father, known for his kindness and compassion; and
1212 WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
1313 servicemen and servicewomen, whose love for their country inspires
1414 them to take up military service, and their dedicated efforts and
1515 enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest
1616 respect and gratitude; and
1717 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
1818 forces, Jeffrey McKinney inspired others with his commitment,
1919 leadership, and courage; although his death has left a void in the
2020 lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this
2121 heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of First Sergeant
2424 Jeffrey R. McKinney and extend deepest sympathy to all those who
2525 mourn his passing; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2828 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of First
2929 Sergeant Jeffrey R. McKinney.
