| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the loss of First Sergeant Jeffrey R. McKinney of Garland, who |

| 7 | 7 | | died in Iraq on July 11, 2007, at the age of 40; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Sergeant |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | McKinney was a 19-year veteran of the U.S. Army; he was a loving |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | husband and father, known for his kindness and compassion; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | servicemen and servicewomen, whose love for their country inspires |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | them to take up military service, and their dedicated efforts and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | respect and gratitude; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | forces, Jeffrey McKinney inspired others with his commitment, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | leadership, and courage; although his death has left a void in the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of First Sergeant |

| 24 | 24 | | Jeffrey R. McKinney and extend deepest sympathy to all those who |

| 25 | 25 | | mourn his passing; and, be it further |
