44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of U.S. Army
66 Private First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., who died in Iraq on July 17,
77 2007, at the age of 19; and
88 WHEREAS, A member of the 401st Military Police Company, 92nd
99 Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade in Baghdad,
1010 Private Joshua was killed when an improvised explosive device
1111 detonated near his vehicle; and
1212 WHEREAS, He was born in Germany to a military family; his
1313 father, Ron Joshua, Sr., is a master sergeant who has also served in
1414 Iraq and his mother, Ursula Joshua, is also an Army veteran; Ron
1515 Joshua, Jr., played football at Hendrickson High School in
1616 Pflugerville, where he graduated in 2006; shortly thereafter, this
1717 brave young man answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted; and
1818 WHEREAS, Although Ron Joshua was always a quiet, polite, and
1919 respectful young man, he had a delightful sense of humor, a love of
2020 adventure and a good challenge, and a smile that brightened the day
2121 of all he encountered; and
2222 WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
2323 women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
2424 service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young soldier is a
2525 sobering reminder of the cost of war; Private Joshua embodied the
2626 highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who loved him
2727 will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2929 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Private
3030 First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to
3131 his family: to his father, Master Sergeant Ron L. Joshua, Sr.; to
3232 his mother, Ursula A. Joshua; to his stepmother, Rachel Joshua; to
3333 his sisters, Brittany Joshua and Krashona Broden; to his
3434 grandparents, Brenda and John Lawson and Katherine Drew, and his
3535 step-grandparents, Randy and Denise Seifferlein; and to his many
3636 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3939 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Private
4040 First Class Ron Joshua.
