6 | 6 | | Private First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., who died in Iraq on July 17, |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A member of the 401st Military Police Company, 92nd |

9 | 9 | | Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade in Baghdad, |

10 | 10 | | Private Joshua was killed when an improvised explosive device |
---|
11 | 11 | | detonated near his vehicle; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Germany to a military family; his |
---|
13 | 13 | | father, Ron Joshua, Sr., is a master sergeant who has also served in |
---|
14 | 14 | | Iraq and his mother, Ursula Joshua, is also an Army veteran; Ron |
---|
15 | 15 | | Joshua, Jr., played football at Hendrickson High School in |
---|
16 | 16 | | Pflugerville, where he graduated in 2006; shortly thereafter, this |
---|
17 | 17 | | brave young man answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Although Ron Joshua was always a quiet, polite, and |
---|
19 | 19 | | respectful young man, he had a delightful sense of humor, a love of |
---|
20 | 20 | | adventure and a good challenge, and a smile that brightened the day |
---|
21 | 21 | | of all he encountered; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
---|
23 | 23 | | women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
---|
24 | 24 | | service, yet the tragic death of this dedicated young soldier is a |
---|
25 | 25 | | sobering reminder of the cost of war; Private Joshua embodied the |
---|
26 | 26 | | highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who loved him |
---|
27 | 27 | | will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Private |

30 | 30 | | First Class Ron J. Joshua, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to |

31 | 31 | | his family: to his father, Master Sergeant Ron L. Joshua, Sr.; to |

32 | 32 | | his mother, Ursula A. Joshua; to his stepmother, Rachel Joshua; to |
