6 | 6 | | at the loss of U.S. Army Specialist Michael James Jaurigue of Texas |

7 | 7 | | City, who was killed in Iraq on May 26, 2007, at the age of 20; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A member of the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute |

9 | 9 | | Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, |
---|
10 | 10 | | Specialist Jaurigue was a machine gunner who had been in Iraq since |
---|
11 | 11 | | August 2006; he was mortally wounded during combat operations near |
---|
12 | 12 | | Samarra; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Despite the dangerous nature of his assignment, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Specialist Jaurigue was committed to fulfilling his mission to the |
---|
15 | 15 | | very best of his ability, and the heroism he demonstrated in battle |
---|
16 | 16 | | earned him numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star and |
---|
17 | 17 | | Purple Heart; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Michael Jaurigue was born on August 11, 1986, in |
---|
19 | 19 | | Honolulu, Hawaii; he attended Texas City High School before |
---|
20 | 20 | | graduating from Dickinson High School in 2004; a member of the |
---|
21 | 21 | | American Legion in Texas City, he enjoyed visiting the post to shoot |
---|
22 | 22 | | pool and listen to music with friends; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young men |
---|
24 | 24 | | and women whose love for their country inspires them to military |
---|
25 | 25 | | service, yet the tragic death of this exemplary young man is a |
---|
26 | 26 | | sobering reminder of the cost of war; Specialist Jaurigue embodied |
---|
27 | 27 | | the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
---|
28 | 28 | | loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
---|
29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representative of the 81st Texas |

31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |

32 | 32 | | Michael James Jaurigue and extend deepest sympathy to the members |

33 | 33 | | of his family: to his father, Jose Noe Jaurigue; to his mother, |

34 | 34 | | Juana Nico Jaurigue; to his sister, Monica Jaurigue; to his nephew, |
