 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The dedicated professionals at the Dell Children's
 Medical Center of Central Texas have provided exceptional care to
 young patients since this splendid facility opened as a new member
 of the Seton Family of Hospitals on June 30, 2007; and
 WHEREAS, Serving a 46-county referral area, Dell Children's
 features state-of-the-art specialty centers in such areas as asthma
 services, childhood cancer, neurosciences, and neonatal intensive
 care; it has consistently received the Magnet designation, the
 highest mark of nursing excellence, from the American Nurses
 Credentialing Center in recognition of quality patient care and
 innovations in professional nursing practice; and
 WHEREAS, Among the practitioners at Dell Children's are such
 highly regarded doctors as Jose C. Cortez, M.D., a pediatric
 urologist; certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Cortez
 received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in
 1985, completed his general surgery internship and pediatric/adult
 urology residency at the University of Cincinnati, and pursued his
 pediatric urology fellowship at the University of California in San
 Diego; Dr. Cortez recently provided skilled and compassionate care
 for Francesca Maria Provencio Fischer, the daughter of State
 Representative Trey Martinez Fischer and his wife, Elizabeth
 Provencio; and
 WHEREAS, The staff at Dell Children's Medical Center provide
 consistently high-quality pediatric care through a family-centered
 and multidisciplinary approach; they work in a world-class
 facility, with cutting-edge technology and a wide array of
 specialty resources, and their achievements are contributing
 immeasurably to the health and well-being of countless Texans; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize Dell Children's Medical Center of
 Central Texas for its contributions to pediatric health care and
 service to young Texans and commend Dr. Jose C. Cortez and all the
 superb medical professionals on the staff of this fine institution;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
 for the hospital and Dr. Cortez as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
