No. 2355 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Fritz Niggeler of the Midland Fire Department was appointed assistant fire chief on April 16, 2009, and this occasion represents an ideal opportunity to honor Chief Niggeler for his distinguished record of service; and WHEREAS, A professional of remarkable skill and dedication, Fritz Niggeler joined the department as a firefighter on August 5, 1988; he moved up through the ranks as a fire driver, a fire captain, and a district chief before becoming a battalion chief in June 2005; and WHEREAS, Chief Niggeler is one of three assistant chiefs; with his appointment, he assumed responsibility for the daily operations of the fire service, which includes oversight of its firefighters as well as supervision of three battalion chiefs, the airport district chief, and the operations division as a whole; and WHEREAS, In announcing Fritz Niggeler's new role, Chief Russ Conley praised his vision and expertise; Chief Niggeler is noted for his understanding of innovations in the fire service and for his effectiveness in imparting this knowledge to younger firefighters; he has helped prepare many new department members for success in their careers by educating them about the history of firefighting and providing comprehensive insight into the evolving nature of fire services; and WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to excellence and his devotion to protecting the lives and property of his fellow citizens, Fritz Niggeler has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the lasting gratitude of his community, and his promotion is apt recognition of his exemplary service and outstanding ability; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Fritz Niggeler of the Midland Fire Department on his selection as assistant fire chief and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Chief Niggeler as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
