| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Fritz Niggeler of the Midland Fire Department was |

| 6 | 6 | | appointed assistant fire chief on April 16, 2009, and this occasion |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | represents an ideal opportunity to honor Chief Niggeler for his |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | distinguished record of service; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A professional of remarkable skill and dedication, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Fritz Niggeler joined the department as a firefighter on August 5, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1988; he moved up through the ranks as a fire driver, a fire |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | captain, and a district chief before becoming a battalion chief in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | June 2005; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Chief Niggeler is one of three assistant chiefs; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | with his appointment, he assumed responsibility for the daily |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | operations of the fire service, which includes oversight of its |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | firefighters as well as supervision of three battalion chiefs, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | airport district chief, and the operations division as a whole; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In announcing Fritz Niggeler's new role, Chief Russ |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Conley praised his vision and expertise; Chief Niggeler is noted |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | for his understanding of innovations in the fire service and for his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | effectiveness in imparting this knowledge to younger firefighters; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he has helped prepare many new department members for success in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | their careers by educating them about the history of firefighting |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and providing comprehensive insight into the evolving nature of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | fire services; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to excellence and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | his devotion to protecting the lives and property of his fellow |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | citizens, Fritz Niggeler has earned the respect and admiration of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | his colleagues and the lasting gratitude of his community, and his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | promotion is apt recognition of his exemplary service and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | outstanding ability; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Fritz Niggeler of the Midland Fire |

| 35 | 35 | | Department on his selection as assistant fire chief and extend to |

| 36 | 36 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
