44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Alex Boerschinger of El Paso demonstrated bravery
66 and resolve on May 5, 2009, when he rescued a neighbor from her
77 burning house; and
88 WHEREAS, That afternoon, Mr. Boerschinger and his wife,
99 Anique Vasquez, smelled smoke coming through their air conditioner
1010 in their home in northeast El Paso; they went outside and discovered
1111 a neighboring house in flames, which were spreading to another
1212 house next door; and
1313 WHEREAS, Ms. Vasquez called 9-1-1, and Mr. Boerschinger
1414 knocked on the door of the burning house to warn the residents; when
1515 no one answered, he went in through a side door and found a woman
1616 inside, who was confused and afraid; and
1717 WHEREAS, Despite the thickening, choking smoke, Mr.
1818 Boerschinger took charge and led the woman and her two dogs to
1919 safety; thanks to his decisive action, no one was seriously injured
2020 in the blaze; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Boerschinger put himself in harm's way to help a
2222 neighbor in grave danger, and his swift and selfless action averted
2323 what could have been a terrible tragedy; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby commend Alex Boerschinger for his life-saving
2626 actions on May 5, 2009, and honor this remarkable gentleman as a
2727 true Texas hero; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for Mr. Boerschinger as an expression of high regard by the
3030 Texas House of Representatives.
