| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Beginning another notable chapter in his public |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | service career, John Monaco was reelected mayor of Mesquite on May |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 9, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A resident of the city since 1979, Mr. Monaco served |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 27 years as a licensed respiratory care practitioner; he is a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | graduate of Northern Virginia Community College and has earned |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | numerous continuing education credits, including completing a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | specialized curriculum on life support for newborns and pediatric |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | patients through The University of Texas Southwestern Medical |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | School; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Monaco previously served his fellow citizens |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | as a member of the Mesquite City Council from 2001 to 2007, when he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | was appointed mayor; he was subsequently elected to the post the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | following year; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to the city he calls home, Mayor Monaco |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | gained experience in Mesquite city government as a member of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | planning and zoning commission, the civil service commission and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | trial board, the water advisory board, and the board of adjustment, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and he has served as the coordinator for the city's volunteer |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | services; he has further contributed to his community as a board |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | member of the local chapter of the American Heart Association, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | which he also served as president; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, this esteemed gentleman |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | enjoys the love and support of his wife, Alice, as well as their |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | five children and eight grandchildren; he is a congregant of Shiloh |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Terrace Baptist Church and enjoys cooking and restoring antique |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | furniture in his spare time; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, John Monaco's desire to serve others and work toward |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the greater good has set an inspiring example for his fellow |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | citizens, and residents of Mesquite are indeed fortunate to benefit |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | from his continued leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate John Monaco on his reelection as |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | mayor of Mesquite and extend to him sincere best wishes for a |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | productive and rewarding tenure in office; and, be it further |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
