55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
66 at the loss of U.S. Army First Lieutenant Jeremy Ray of Houston, who
77 died in Iraq on December 20, 2007, at the age of 26; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry
99 Regiment out of Fort Hood, First Lieutenant Ray died of wounds
1010 suffered from an explosive device in Kanaan; and
1111 WHEREAS, Jeremy Ray was a 2006 graduate of Texas A&M
1212 University, where he was a member of Company H-1 of the Corps of
1313 Cadets; known as a quiet yet confident young man, he loved the
1414 outdoors and playing the guitar; and
1515 WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
1616 forces, Jeremy Ray inspired others with his leadership and courage,
1717 and his fellow citizens owe him a profound debt of gratitude that
1818 the passage of time can never diminish; now, therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2020 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of First Lieutenant
2121 Jeremy Ray and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
2222 family: to his parents, Randy and Debbie Ray; to his brother, Justin
2323 Ray, and his wife, Allison; to his grandmother, Essie Ray; and to
2424 his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2626 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2727 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jeremy Ray.
