55 WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant Chris
66 Davis of Lubbock suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of
77 this valiant soldier in Iraq on June 23, 2007, at the age of 35; and
88 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment,
99 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort
1010 Benning, Georgia, Sergeant Davis was killed in Baghdad when his
1111 unit was attacked by insurgents; and
1212 WHEREAS, Chris Davis was born in Lubbock on October 25, 1971,
1313 to Raymond and Hermina Davis; a graduate of Estacado High School, he
1414 enlisted in the Army in 1999 and served four tours of duty in Iraq;
1515 and
1616 WHEREAS, Sergeant Davis's medals and commendations included
1717 the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, the
1818 Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the
1919 Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and many
2020 others; and
2121 WHEREAS, Beloved by his family for his good humor and high
2222 spirits, he dedicated his life to the service of his family and his
2323 nation, inspiring others with his leadership and courage; although
2424 his death has left a void in the lives of his loved ones, they will
2525 forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be
2626 it
2727 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2828 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Chris Davis
2929 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3030 wife, Debbie Davis; to his parents, Raymond and Hermina Davis; to
3131 his daughters, Taylor Davis and Casey Joy Davis; to his son,
3232 Christian Davis; to his stepson, Zachary Davis; to his brothers,
3333 David Davis and Raymond Davis; to his sisters, Sandra Segura,
3434 Margaret Davis, Sheila Ochoa, Eva Villa, Cindy Davis, Becky
3535 Vasquez, and Brenda Davis; and to his other relatives and friends;
3636 and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3939 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
4040 Sergeant Chris Davis.
