| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant Chris |

| 6 | 6 | | Davis of Lubbock suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of |

| 7 | 7 | | this valiant soldier in Iraq on June 23, 2007, at the age of 35; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Benning, Georgia, Sergeant Davis was killed in Baghdad when his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | unit was attacked by insurgents; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Chris Davis was born in Lubbock on October 25, 1971, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to Raymond and Hermina Davis; a graduate of Estacado High School, he |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | enlisted in the Army in 1999 and served four tours of duty in Iraq; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Davis's medals and commendations included |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and many |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | others; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Beloved by his family for his good humor and high |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | spirits, he dedicated his life to the service of his family and his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | nation, inspiring others with his leadership and courage; although |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his death has left a void in the lives of his loved ones, they will |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
