| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The friends and family of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal |

| 6 | 6 | | Johnny Ray Strong suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of |

| 7 | 7 | | this valiant soldier on June 12, 2007, at the age of 21; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Strong was killed while bravely |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | serving his country during his second tour of duty in Iraq; a native |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of Temple, he was born on May 24, 1986, to loving parents Steven and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Jacqueline Williams Strong; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Known for his joyful, gregarious nature, Lance |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Corporal Strong enjoyed bowling, putt-putt, shooting pool, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | listening to music, and playing video games; above all else, he |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | valued time spent with his family; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | forces, Johnny Strong inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and courage; although his passing leaves a void in the lives of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | those who were fortunate enough to know him, they will forever carry |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | memories of this beloved young man close in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Johnny Ray |

| 24 | 24 | | Strong and extend sincere sympathy to his parents, Steven and |

| 25 | 25 | | Jacqueline Williams Strong; to his grandparents, Minerva D. |

| 26 | 26 | | Williams and Elsworth Williams, Jr., Elizabeth Merritt, and Ferrell |
