No. 2414 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For 36 years, the members of the Eta Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., have greatly benefited the El Paso community through their outstanding leadership and service; and WHEREAS, Established in 1920 on the campus of Howard University, Zeta Phi Beta is today an international organization with some 800 chapters, all of which strive to promote the core principles of scholarship, service, sisterly love, and finer womanhood; and WHEREAS, Chartered on September 17, 1972, the Eta Iota Zeta Chapter has been faithfully championing these ideals since its inception; the group has participated in a number of worthwhile endeavors, including its Stork's Nest prenatal care initiative, which encourages expectant mothers to maintain healthy lifestyles during their pregnancies in order to prevent premature births; and WHEREAS, The women of Eta Iota Zeta have enriched the lives of their fellow residents with their generous support of vital programs and services, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize them for their noteworthy efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend the Eta Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., for its contributions to the El Paso community and extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success with their important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
