| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For 36 years, the members of the Eta Iota Zeta |

| 6 | 6 | | Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., have greatly benefited the |

| 7 | 7 | | El Paso community through their outstanding leadership and service; |

|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1920 on the campus of Howard |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | University, Zeta Phi Beta is today an international organization |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | with some 800 chapters, all of which strive to promote the core |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | principles of scholarship, service, sisterly love, and finer |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | womanhood; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Chartered on September 17, 1972, the Eta Iota Zeta |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Chapter has been faithfully championing these ideals since its |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | inception; the group has participated in a number of worthwhile |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | endeavors, including its Stork's Nest prenatal care initiative, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | which encourages expectant mothers to maintain healthy lifestyles |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | during their pregnancies in order to prevent premature births; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The women of Eta Iota Zeta have enriched the lives of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their fellow residents with their generous support of vital |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | programs and services, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize them |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for their noteworthy efforts; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend the Eta Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi |

| 26 | 26 | | Beta Sorority, Inc., for its contributions to the El Paso community |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success |
