H.R. No. 2426
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Velton and Darlene Cunningham of
Woodway celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2008;
and
WHEREAS, Velton Cunningham and the former Darlene Strickland
were united in matrimony in 1958; through the years, they have
nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with
the expansion of their family to include their children, Diana
Crosby and her husband, Michael, Mark Cunningham and his wife,
Jerri, Sarah Donaldson and her husband, David, and Janeen Rape and
her husband, Kenneth, their grandchildren, and their
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cunningham worked with K-Mart and Central
Freight Lines before opening C & C Collision Center in 1995, while
Mrs. Cunningham has been employed for more than 30 years with
American Income Life Insurance; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Velton and Darlene Cunningham on
their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
