5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Faust has been named the 2009 Teacher of |

6 | 6 | | the Year at John B. Connally High School in the Pflugerville |
---|
7 | 7 | | Independent School District, and this award provides fitting |
---|
8 | 8 | | recognition for her achievements in the classroom; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Faust has been a faculty member in Pflugerville |
---|
10 | 10 | | ISD since 1991, initially teaching typing and word processing at |
---|
11 | 11 | | Pflugerville High School, where she also served as a cheerleading |
---|
12 | 12 | | coach and as a sponsor for the Business Professionals of America |
---|
13 | 13 | | chapter; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1996, she moved to Connally High School; there, |
---|
15 | 15 | | her teaching assignments have encompassed additional subjects, |
---|
16 | 16 | | including accounting, business computer information systems, and |
---|
17 | 17 | | dance, and she has directed the drill team and continued her work |
---|
18 | 18 | | with BPA members; since 2001, she has focused her energies on the |
---|
19 | 19 | | school's Diversified Career Preparation program and has chaired the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Business Department since 1999 and the Career and Technical |
---|
21 | 21 | | Department since 2001; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Faust is renowned for her ability to work with |
---|
23 | 23 | | students who are at risk of dropping out of school, often for |
---|
24 | 24 | | economic reasons; by finding ways to inspire these students and to |
---|
25 | 25 | | keep them engaged in their studies, she has made a meaningful |
---|
26 | 26 | | difference in many young lives; moreover, the innovative curriculum |
---|
27 | 27 | | she has designed for Diversified Career Preparation classes have |
---|
28 | 28 | | proven influential, and she frequently shares her ideas with other |
---|
29 | 29 | | school districts and makes presentations at education conferences; |
---|
30 | 30 | | and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, A Central Texas native, Ms. Faust graduated from |
---|
32 | 32 | | Round Rock High School and earned a bachelor's degree and |
---|
33 | 33 | | vocational certificate from Southwest Texas State University; in |
---|
34 | 34 | | addition, she has attained certification in a number of teaching |
---|
35 | 35 | | areas and is a member of numerous professional organizations, |
---|
36 | 36 | | including the Association of Texas Professional Educators and the |
---|
37 | 37 | | Texas Computer Education Association; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Faust has been named Teacher of the Month on |
---|
39 | 39 | | numerous occasions and also holds multiple Advisor of Excellence |
---|
40 | 40 | | commendations from the SWTSU Chapter Accreditation Program; an |
---|
41 | 41 | | imaginative and dedicated educator, she is highly respected by both |
---|
42 | 42 | | her students and colleagues, and she is indeed deserving of this |
---|
43 | 43 | | prestigious award; now, therefore, be it |
---|
44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
45 | 45 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Kimberly Faust on being named the |
---|
46 | 46 | | 2009 Teacher of the Year at John B. Connally High School and extend |
---|
47 | 47 | | to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
