| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Darren Lathen has ably served the people of Garland |

| 7 | 7 | | as the city council member for District 8 since 2007, and his |

| 8 | 8 | | knowledge and dedication have earned him the respect of many |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | people; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, An information technology professional for AT&T, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Mr. Lathen moved to Garland in 2002 with his wife, Kathy, and their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | daughter, Dana; initially active in the community through Concordia |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Lutheran Church, Mr. Lathen first entered public service in 2006 by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | becoming a member of the city council's Ethics Board and the Charter |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Review Committee; he is now serving his first term on the city |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | council, and since his election, he has proven himself to be a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | careful steward of the city's resources; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The effective operation of city government depends |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | on the hard work of committed public servants, and Darren Lathen may |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | take considerable pride in his dedication to the citizens of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Garland; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby commend Darren Lathen on his service as a member |

| 24 | 24 | | of the Garland City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes |
