| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce received |

| 6 | 6 | | well-deserved recognition when it was named the Region III Large |

| 7 | 7 | | Hispanic Chamber of the Year for 2008; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor was part of the Regional |

| 9 | 9 | | Hispanic Leadership and Business Excellence Awards presented by the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; these commendations |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | also included individual honors, and the El Paso chamber earned |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | further acclaim when its chief executive officer, Cindy Ramos |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Davidson, was named Region III Chamber Executive of the Year; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, For nearly two decades, the El Paso Hispanic Chamber |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | has been an invaluable resource for businesses owned by minorities |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and women as well as for small business owners from all backgrounds; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the organization provides guidance in obtaining financial capital |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and in doing business with corporate and government clients, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | its training sessions help new business owners to get their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ventures started; moreover, the chamber provides its members with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | forums for networking with other entrepreneurs and serves as an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | advocate for small businesses in the legislative process; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has done an |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | exceptional job of empowering its members and helping them to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | become important contributors to the local economy, and the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | organization's efforts are creating increased opportunities for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the citizens of El Paso; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of |

| 30 | 30 | | Commerce on being named the Region III Large Hispanic Chamber of the |

| 31 | 31 | | Year for 2008 and extend to all those associated with the |
