| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Chris Gieringer has been named the 2009 Elementary |

| 6 | 6 | | Teacher of the Year by the Round Rock Independent School District; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gieringer earned her bachelor's degree in speech |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and English at Southwest Texas State University and her master's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | degree in education from the University of Houston; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A veteran educator with 31 years of experience, 17 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of them teaching middle school, Ms. Gieringer worked for the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Weslaco ISD and set up a reading lab and was a reading instructor |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for the Aramco Oil Company in Saudi Arabia before joining the Round |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Rock ISD, where she originally taught English and reading and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | worked with students in the Talented and Gifted Program at Chisholm |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Trail Middle School; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Since 1995, Ms. Gieringer has been at Old Town |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Elementary School, where she is the school's reading |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | interventionist, working with groups of students daily to help them |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with reading comprehension and decoding; she also helps fifth-grade |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | students prepare for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | test, and she serves on the district's Response to Intervention |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Committee; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Chris Gieringer's dedication to her profession and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | her unwavering commitment to the young people of Round Rock have set |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | an inspiring example for her colleagues and students alike, and she |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commend Chris Gieringer for being named Round |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Rock ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
