| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Linda Koop has ably served the people of Dallas as |

| 6 | 6 | | the city council member for District 11 since 2005, and her |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | achievements have earned her widespread respect and appreciation; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Koop, a lifelong resident of Dallas, holds a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | bachelor's degree in sociology from Colorado State University and a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | master's degree in international management studies from The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University of Texas at Dallas; she has experience as a city and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | regional planner, and from 1976 to 2003, she was co-owner of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | National Shoes; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Now serving her second term on the city council, Ms. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Koop has distinguished herself as chair of the council's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Transportation and Environment Committee and as a member of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Economic Development, Housing, and Trinity River Corridor Project |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Committees; long active in regional transportation issues, she has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | served on the board of directors of Dallas Area Rapid Transit and as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | chair of the Regional Transportation Council of the North Central |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Texas Council of Governments; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Linda Koop has made many significant contributions |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to the betterment of life in Dallas as a member of the city council, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and she merits special recognition for her dedication and efforts |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | in behalf of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Linda Koop on her service as a member of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the Dallas City Council and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
