| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The city of Dallas has greatly benefited from the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | dedicated leadership of Jerry Allen since he was elected to the city |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | council in June 2007; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure in municipal government, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Councilman Allen has ably guided the Dallas community with an eye to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the future, and his knowledge and expertise in a wide range of civic |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | issues have earned him the respect of many people along the way; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Allen has further contributed to his community |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | as a member of the DART board of directors, as president and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | treasurer of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, and as secretary |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of the First Republic Bank Greenville Avenue Board of Directors; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, His efforts have also benefited the local school |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | council at Merriman Park Elementary and numerous programs at Lake |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Highlands High School, including the band club, the basketball, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | football, and cross-country teams, and the Character Counts |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | program, which he founded; in recognition of his outstanding work |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in behalf of the institution, he was honored with the PTA Wildcat |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Award; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Allen attended the University of Wisconsin and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the University of North Texas, earning his bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | banking and finance; today, he serves as senior vice president of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Colonial Bank; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A valued member of Lakeside Baptist Church, he has |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | been supported in all of his endeavors by a loving family, including |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | his wife of 29 years, Patti Ann, and his daughters, Katie and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Kristie; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and Jerry Allen |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | is helping to make Dallas an even better place in which to live and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | work; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor Jerry Allen for his outstanding service on |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | the Dallas City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | continued success; and, be it further |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 41 | 41 | | prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
