44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss
66 of Hayes H. Bolitho of Holly Lake Ranch, who passed away on April
77 21, 2009, at the age of 91; and
88 WHEREAS, Mr. Bolitho was born on December 22, 1917, to Thomas
99 and Edna Bolitho in Butte, Montana; he answered his nation's call to
1010 duty with service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and
1111 fought in the Philippines until his capture by the Japanese; he
1212 survived two years as a prisoner of war before escaping from a
1313 torpedoed transport ship and taking refuge with Philippine
1414 guerrillas; after returning to the United States, he was presented
1515 with the Purple Heart by Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall; and
1616 WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Bolitho worked for 32 years in
1717 sales and marketing for General Mills, and as he took on new
1818 responsibilities in the company, he and his family lived in several
1919 different cities around the country; he retired in 1981 and settled
2020 in East Texas, where he enjoyed playing golf and reading; and
2121 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bolitho enjoyed the love
2222 and support of his wife, Irene, with whom he shared 63 rewarding
2323 years of marriage; the couple were the parents of four daughters,
2424 Judy Herron, Joan Osborne, Janie Bolitho, and Jennifer Wilhelmi,
2525 who preceded her father in death; with the passing years, the family
2626 grew to include six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren;
2727 and
2828 WHEREAS, Hayes Bolitho possessed the courage and initiative
2929 that defined the finest members of his generation, and his loved
3030 ones will forever cherish his achievements and their many fond
3131 memories of the happy times they spent in his company; now,
3232 therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3434 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hayes H. Bolitho and
3535 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3636 Irene Bolitho; to his children, Judy Herron and her husband, Phil,
3737 Joan Osborne, and Janie Bolitho; to his grandchildren, Brian
3838 Osborne and his wife, Karen, Tonya Delborne and her husband, Jason,
3939 Christopher Herron, Scott Herron and his wife, Lynne, and Corbin
4040 and Trent Wilhelmi; to his great-grandchildren; and to his other
4141 relatives and friends; and, be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4343 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4444 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hayes
4545 Bolitho.
