5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss |
---|
6 | 6 | | of Hayes H. Bolitho of Holly Lake Ranch, who passed away on April |
---|
7 | 7 | | 21, 2009, at the age of 91; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bolitho was born on December 22, 1917, to Thomas |
---|
9 | 9 | | and Edna Bolitho in Butte, Montana; he answered his nation's call to |
---|
10 | 10 | | duty with service in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and |
---|
11 | 11 | | fought in the Philippines until his capture by the Japanese; he |
---|
12 | 12 | | survived two years as a prisoner of war before escaping from a |
---|
13 | 13 | | torpedoed transport ship and taking refuge with Philippine |
---|
14 | 14 | | guerrillas; after returning to the United States, he was presented |
---|
15 | 15 | | with the Purple Heart by Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Bolitho worked for 32 years in |
---|
17 | 17 | | sales and marketing for General Mills, and as he took on new |
---|
18 | 18 | | responsibilities in the company, he and his family lived in several |
---|
19 | 19 | | different cities around the country; he retired in 1981 and settled |
---|
20 | 20 | | in East Texas, where he enjoyed playing golf and reading; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bolitho enjoyed the love |
---|
22 | 22 | | and support of his wife, Irene, with whom he shared 63 rewarding |
---|
23 | 23 | | years of marriage; the couple were the parents of four daughters, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Judy Herron, Joan Osborne, Janie Bolitho, and Jennifer Wilhelmi, |
---|
25 | 25 | | who preceded her father in death; with the passing years, the family |
---|
26 | 26 | | grew to include six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; |
---|
27 | 27 | | and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Hayes Bolitho possessed the courage and initiative |
---|
29 | 29 | | that defined the finest members of his generation, and his loved |
---|
30 | 30 | | ones will forever cherish his achievements and their many fond |
---|
31 | 31 | | memories of the happy times they spent in his company; now, |
---|
32 | 32 | | therefore, be it |

33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hayes H. Bolitho and |
---|
35 | 35 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Irene Bolitho; to his children, Judy Herron and her husband, Phil, |
---|
37 | 37 | | Joan Osborne, and Janie Bolitho; to his grandchildren, Brian |

38 | 38 | | Osborne and his wife, Karen, Tonya Delborne and her husband, Jason, |
