44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Jon Gonzales of San Antonio has earned great
66 distinction by being named a scholar finalist in the National
77 Hispanic Recognition Program for 2008-2009; and
88 WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National
99 Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who
1010 score well on the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying
1111 Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and
1212 WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales is a senior at John Marshall High
1313 School in San Antonio, where he has served as president of the
1414 University Interscholastic League Math and Science teams, the
1515 percussion section leader for the marching band, and a member of the
1616 National Honor Society; recognized as an AP Scholar with
1717 distinction and a commended National Merit Scholar, he plans to
1818 study materials engineering and economics at Harvard University;
1919 and
2020 WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his
2121 life, Jon Gonzales may indeed reflect with pride on all that he has
2222 achieved and look with anticipation toward a bright and promising
2323 future; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate Jon Gonzales on his selection as a
2626 scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition
2727 Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2828 success; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. Gonzales as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
