H.R. No. 2530 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Matthew Ashley has ably served his fellow Texans as an intern in the office of State Representative Tommy Merritt during the 81st Legislature; and WHEREAS, An undergraduate at The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Ashley is majoring in government and is an active member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity; the son of proud parents Dan and Leslie Ashley, he is a native of McKinney, where he graduated from McKinney North High School in 2006; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his internship in the office of Representative Merritt, this noteworthy young Texan has contributed to the workings of state government firsthand; in addition to enhancing his knowledge of the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, he has gained valuable work experience in the field of public service; and WHEREAS, Matthew Ashley has performed his duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and he is indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Matthew Ashley for his service as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Tommy Merritt and extend to him warmest best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ashley as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
