| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant Joseph |

| 6 | 6 | | Bradley Milledge suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of |

| 7 | 7 | | this valiant soldier on October 5, 2007, at the age of 23; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Regiment, out of Vilseck, Germany, Sergeant Milledge was mortally |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | wounded by an improvised explosive device in Baghdad; he joined the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Army in 2004 and was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Joey Milledge was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | February 3, 1984, to Carla and Jack Milledge; after graduating from |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Glenwood High School in 2002, he moved to Point Blank in San Jacinto |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | County; devoted to his family, he enjoyed the love and support of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | his wife, Amanda, and their son, Joseph; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A thoughtful and compassionate young man, Sergeant |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Milledge loved to read about religion and philosophy, and he asked |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | his family to send him toys and clothing to distribute to Iraqi |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | children; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Milledge exemplified the highest ideals of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the U.S. armed forces and inspired others with his courage and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fortitude; although he is deeply missed, those who loved him will |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Joseph |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Milledge and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |

| 29 | 29 | | family: to his wife, Amanda; to his son, Joseph Bradley Ryan |

| 30 | 30 | | Milledge, Jr.; to his mother, Carla Milledge; to his father, Jack |

| 31 | 31 | | Milledge; to his brothers, Eric and Nathan Milledge; to his |
