| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends of U.S. Army Chief Warrant |

| 6 | 6 | | Officer 2 Corry Ardel Edwards of Kennedale suffered an immeasurable |

| 7 | 7 | | loss with his death in Iraq on September 18, 2008, at the age of 38; |

| 8 | 8 | | and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 149th Aviation |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Regiment, 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, Texas Army National Guard, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | out of Grand Prairie, Chief Warrant Officer Edwards was a longtime |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | member of the Texas Army National Guard and had previously served in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2003 and 2004; he was killed when his |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | helicopter went down near Tallil and was promoted posthumously to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | chief warrant officer 2; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Corry Edwards was born in Midwest City, Oklahoma, on |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | September 23, 1969, and graduated from Sam Houston High School in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Arlington in 1988; he earned his paramedic certification in 1994 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and was employed by American Medical Response the following year; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in 1997, he went to work for the Dallas Army Aviation Support |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Facility; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Greatly admired for his strength of character and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for his kind and helpful nature, Chief Warrant Officer Edwards |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | earned the respect of his fellow soldiers and the affection of all |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | who knew him; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | women whose love of country inspires them to take up military |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | service; Corry Edwards embodied the highest ideals of the U.S. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | armed forces, and although he is deeply missed, his loved ones will |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
