H.R. No. 2593 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Ulysses Watkins of Houston has made a positive difference in his community as a dedicated physician and volunteer; and WHEREAS, Dr. Watkins, who holds a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Texas Southern University and a medical degree from Howard University, has served as a physician for nearly three decades; in addition to practicing medicine, he markets a line of health and beauty products; and WHEREAS, A passionate advocate of preventive health care, Dr. Watkins seeks to educate others about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle; to that end, he has shared his expertise with numerous health organizations, as well as with area churches; moreover, he hosts a weekly call-in radio show on KCOH 1430 AM, for which he was named Best Radio Talk Host by the Houston Press; and WHEREAS, Dr. Watkins has further distinguished himself as a 33rd-degree Mason and a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church; he and his wife, the late Katie E. Watkins, were blessed with four children, and today Dr. Watkins enjoys the love and support of seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, With a genuine concern for his fellow citizens, Ulysses Watkins has given freely of his time and talents for the benefit of his community, and he is an inspiration to all those who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Dr. Ulysses Watkins on his contributions to his community and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Watkins as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
