5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Linda Pravda Horowitz of Houston has long |

6 | 6 | | distinguished herself through her service to her community, and her |

7 | 7 | | leadership and generosity of spirit have earned her the heartfelt |
---|
8 | 8 | | admiration of all who know her; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Bayou City, Mrs. Horowitz graduated |
---|
10 | 10 | | from Bellaire High School and went on to earn bachelor's and |
---|
11 | 11 | | master's degrees in speech pathology from the University of |
---|
12 | 12 | | Houston; her notable career has included employment as a teacher, |
---|
13 | 13 | | speech pathologist, and real estate broker; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Horowitz has benefited her |
---|
15 | 15 | | fellow Texans as a board member of the Gamma Sigma Sigma alumni |
---|
16 | 16 | | service sorority, as chair of the local chapter of Meals on Wheels, |
---|
17 | 17 | | and as a board member of The River Performing and Visual Arts |
---|
18 | 18 | | Center, an initiative that provides accessible, affordable fine |
---|
19 | 19 | | arts education for economically disadvantaged children as well as |
---|
20 | 20 | | those with disabilities and chronic illness; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Horowitz has also made a positive difference in |
---|
22 | 22 | | her work with Hadassah, which she has led as president, and in her |
---|
23 | 23 | | work as membership vice president of the Emma Lazarus Group, chair |
---|
24 | 24 | | of Shalom Beit Domestic Violence Prevention, and board member of |
---|
25 | 25 | | Congregation Beth Yeshurun; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their |
---|
27 | 27 | | time with others are indeed deserving of our profound gratitude, |
---|
28 | 28 | | and it is a pleasure to honor Mrs. Horowitz, who has enriched the |
---|
29 | 29 | | lives of many with her exemplary civic engagement; now, therefore, |

31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commend Linda Pravda Horowitz for her |
