| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bee County Clerk Mirella Escamilla Davis has been |

| 6 | 6 | | named the 2009 Region 8 County Clerk of the Year by the County & |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | District Clerks Association of Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Chosen from more than 30 county clerks in Region 8, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Mirella Davis was recognized for her exemplary record of hard work, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | professionalism, and involvement in volunteer projects; in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | addition to organizing a relief shipment to government employees |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | impacted by Hurricane Ike, she has arranged a Cinco De Mayo |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | celebration and Independence Day picnic for county employees, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | raised $2,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and promoted |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and organized events for County Government Week in Bee County; Ms. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Davis is thought to be the first Bee County Clerk to receive this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | prestigious honor; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Davis was born in Karnes City and graduated from |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Three Rivers High School; she went on to earn an associate's degree |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in secretarial science from Bee County College; in 1993, she was |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | hired as deputy county clerk, a position she held for a decade |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | before becoming county clerk; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Davis is a member of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Bee County Historical Commission and serves on the Bee County |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Junior Livestock & Homemakers Show board of directors; she has also |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | served as 4-H Club manager since 1992; in all of her endeavors, she |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | has been blessed with the support of a loving family, which includes |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | her husband, Melvin, and her two children, Micah Agapita and Dustin |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Diego; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Mirella Davis is an outstanding public servant whose |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | dedicated efforts are of tremendous benefit to Bee County, and it is |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | most fitting that her achievements be celebrated with this honor; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Mirella Escamilla Davis on being |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | named Region 8 County Clerk of the Year and extend to her best |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
