 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Waxahachie High School Lady Indians soccer team
 turned in an outstanding performance during the 2009 regular season
 and captured the District 28-4A championship; and
 WHEREAS, This district title is a first for the Lady Indians,
 who posted a record of nine wins and one tie against their 28-4A
 foes and clinched a spot in the playoffs before the season closed;
 they head into the postseason as the number-one seed and have
 considerable momentum after racking up a total of 17 wins in the
 regular season; and
 WHEREAS, Superior teamwork was supplemented by valuable
 individual performances throughout the year; seniors Emily Gore,
 Flor Carrillo, and team cocaptain Christian Lloyd have been
 instrumental in this season's successes, as have freshman
 goalkeeper Sarah Hay and offensive standouts Emily Saunders and
 cocaptain Amber Swindle; moreover, valuable contributions have
 been made by all of the other members of the Lady Indians roster:
 cocaptain Megan Willoughby, Lauren Weatherford, Natalie Kelly,
 Jill Obenoskey, Alyssa Jones, Anna Barnes, Brittany Johnson,
 Lindsey Williams, Rian Smith, Danielle Tesei, Caroline Clifton,
 Sara Sanchez, Bridget Reid, and team manager Gabriela Bahena; and
 WHEREAS, Head coach Jason Venable has provided sound guidance
 to the Lady Indians squad throughout the season, inspiring his
 players to perform to their full potential; this year marks the
 third time Coach Venable has led Waxahachie to the playoffs since he
 took the helm in 2005; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a district championship is the culmination
 of countless hours of hard work and dedication, and these talented
 student-athletes may reflect proudly on their accomplishments as
 they contend for the state title in the playoffs; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Waxahachie High School Lady
 Indians soccer team on winning the 2009 District 28-4A championship
 and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
